ORACLE Database Administration for a large Agency of the U.S. Department of Justice
DSI provides DBA support to application developers for those applications that have been developed using Oracle’s Developer 6 product suite, Forms and Reports Version 6, Oracle Application Express and other related Oracle and MS SQL Server products. In addition, DSI provides services to support the phases of web enabled rapid application development.
DSI provides technology and software assessments as required by COTR. We define potential capabilities of newly available MS SQL Server and Oracle related software technologies as applicable to this agency’s ADP infrastructure and requirements. We recommend inclusion of these products based on the analysis of the Firebird and web architectures.
We provide DBA support for SI identified ADP systems. This support pertains to the MS SQL Server, Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Web Developer tool suite, Oracle Application Express, and the Oracle Application Server.
DSI also provides DBA support to application developers for applications that developed using Oracle’s Developer 6 product suite, Forms and Reports Version 6, Oracle Application Express and other related Oracle and MS SQL Server products. We also provide services to support the phases of web enabled rapid application development.
DSI uses an earned value management system (EVMS) that has been determined by the Cognizant Federal Agency (CFA) to be compliant with the guidelines in ANSI/EIA Standard – 748 to manage this contract. We use the EVMS to provide Activity Reports weekly and Progress Status Reports monthly to the COTR.
The database administrators provide support to 38 applications spanning the managed development, integration and performance, quality assurance, production, client/server, and web environments. There are approximately 16,600 Firebird workstations running Windows XP with MS Office 2007. DEA also supports a large number of stand-alone workstations in numerous agency locations worldwide. These systems are also mission-critical and used for a variety of purposes. There are approximately 500 Firebird servers that are Intel-based, with dual processors running Active Directory and Windows Exchange 2003.
This large agency has been transforming many of its thick-client applications to Web-based applications. There is a web Farm that consisting of 20 servers supporting a Microsoft IIS with Apache and Oracle Application Server. Development is being done on Oracle’s Web Developer product tool suite and the Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
